Lovely valve (tube) Binson with varispeed motor. Working superbly and sounding stunning following an extensive rebuild.
This Echorec B2 (Baby) has the Soundgas seal of approval and has been serviced/restored and modified for varispeed use, followed by extensive testing and further calibration by Tony and Dr Huw.
NOTE: Photos are of the unit for sale – more to follow.
Demo below of this machine. It features a varispeed motor option offering the full functionality of a standard Binson but with the advantage of being able to tempo match the repeats. We can also fit a wet-only output to channel 3 for use with a mixing console (or effects loop) if required.
Excellent overall condition, full report to follow. See photos for more information on cosmetic condition.
Switchable voltage for use anywhere in the world - it will be set up ready for you to use before we ship.
First demo is the machine for sale; the others a T7E we sold recently.
Naturally, the axe-slingers amongst you will be drooling over the way these machines languidly exude classic Dave Gilmour/Pink Floyd timbres, but we’re hot under the collar about the way this one reacts to abuse: feed it a hot signal from a drum machine, crank up the input gain and swoon at the rich creamy tube overdrive and filthy distortion on the repeats.
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, on a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning disc which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the product of an accumulation of hundreds of hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, tweaking and listening to them. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may only be short in terms of functioning (how many people tell us they’ve got a Binson from somewhere that is “90% there…”); but in our experience they can be a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to get to that ultimate goal.
