Superb Binson Echorec 2 Super Special for sale in near mint condition and perfect working order.
Selling on behalf of a customer who is the original owner – it has barely been used since he purchased it direct from the manufacturer (he estimates around 2 hours’ use).
Super Special Binsons represent one man’s vision for the ultimate incarnation of the Binson evolution. If Mr Bini was still making Binsons, maybe they would look and sound like this. Made from NOS and improved internal parts, this machine’s performance is quite incredible; listening to it, you would not believe that it is a mechanical valve echo. The repeats are super clear with little of the modulation and distortion that characterise the typical vintage Binson sound. If you are looking for the cleanest-sounding valve echo, this machine is for you.
Soundgas are vintage echo experts – we specialise in Binsons, Copicats, Rolands, and Echoplexes.
Binson Echorecs have been our obsession for many years. They are amazingly engineered machines: where a tape echo’s input sound is recorded to tape, on a Binson it is recorded onto a circular spinning disc which has replay heads positioned around it.
Every Echorec we sell is the product of an accumulation of hundreds of hours spent dismantling, rebuilding, tweaking and listening to them. The distance between a “good” Binson and a truly “great” one may only be short in terms of functioning (how many people tell us they’ve got a Binson from somewhere that is “90% there…”); but in our experience they can be a world apart in terms of the time, patience and experience required to get to that ultimate goal.

“If you are a vintage audio gear head then this is the place you have been looking for all your life. Pretty much any piece of classic or obscure kit that you are after is available here... But the clincher for me is that the gear they sell has been restored by their top techs (unless otherwise noted) which is really very important when dealing with, for example, synths from 30 years ago.”
