Can you service my gear?

We get asked a lot if we can service/fix/restore people’s synths, echoes and other vintage gear. See below for some extra info about Roland/Korg tape echoes, Binsons, and synths/drum machines. In general the answer – for gear that has NOT been bought from us – – is sorry, no. Subscribe to our mailing list and you’ll be the first to know when we’re ready to take on further work.’

The simple fact is we have a large backlog of gear to work through before we can take on significant amounts of extra servicing. Priority is given to working on customers’ gear we’ve sold: (we provide a warranty, plus lifetime service support on most items).

However, there is a small amount of light at the end of the tunnel with some types of equipment: certain tape echoes, Binsons and synths. Here (to save you emailing!) is what you’ll get back in answer to each of the following common queries:

Will you service my Roland/Korg tape echo?

We are currently too busy to take on these machines, however we plan to periodically release a limited number of slots – to know about those subscribe to our mailing list if you haven’t already.

However, if you have a troublesome machine, and you haven’t already, you could try cleaning the heads, fitting a new tape, and trying it again. Many problems stem from using incorrect or poor-quality loops – most available online are simply not up to the job – and this may well improve your machine. And here’s our tape changing and head cleaning instructions if you need them.

Will you service my synth or drum machine?

Unfortunately, our synth department is not able to take on additional service work at present. We are in the process of expanding our capacity and head synth tech James Walker is training new engineers. We hope to have additional capacity but  cannot predict when this will be; sorry we can’t be of immediate assistance, nor are we able to offer remote diagnosis or advice.

If you want to know when we’ll be taking on work, please subscribe to our mailing list if you haven’t already.

Will you service or restore my Binson?

Right now it’s a no to that as well. Our restorations take more than four weeks of work from one of our senior techs, and a machine that has been worked on before and is “almost there” is just as much work (or in many cases more!) as we will always start with a total rebuild. We may release some slots for Binsons but there is no timescale as to when this will be.
